Summary of the class

Through the certification process, you will learn the Scrum framework and gain an understanding of team roles, events, and artifacts. As the expert of Scrum values, principles, and practices, the ScrumMaster protects the team from both internal and external distractions.

With your CSM, you'll:

  • Attend a live online or in-person course taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer® (CST®), or receive private coaching from a Certified Agile Coach (CAC)

  • Have at least 14 hours of face-to-face interaction with your CST or CAC

  • After successfully completing the course, you will need to accept the License Agreement to take the 50 question CSM test that’s available in 13 languages

  • To pass the test, correctly answer 37 out of the 50 questions within the 60-minute time limit


Upon completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the Certified ScrumMaster exam and become Certified ScrumMasters. Additionally, this course allows students to claim 14 Project Management Institute (PMI)® Professional Development Units (PDUs)* as well as 16 Scrum Alliance Scrum Education Units (SEUs). Maintain your CSM certification by earning Scrum Education Units® (SEUs) and renewing your certification every two years.
