Hi, this is Leon Sabarsky, Senior Agile Coach, Transformation Experts, with a recap of our last Taste of Agile event:
The topics of our Advanced Agile breakout group centered on kicking off a team, how to influence leadership in your organization to switch to Agile, and velocity and burndown/burnup charts.
Team Kickoff - we discussed different approaches to kicking off a team or team liftoff along with going deeper on team working agreements, especially with teams being remote. I recommended Diana Larsen's book, "Liftoff", as a good reference along with a Remote Team Working Agreement template from Collaboration Superpowers. I recommended creating an "Agile Charter", with vision and mission for the team along with how we will measure success.
How to influence leadership in your organization to switch to Agile - we discussed ideas on how to speak to leaders in their own language. To understand their perspective and their incentives (or costs) to pursue a potentially expensive proposition which may not succeed (in their mind). We agreed that teams should always pursue business value delivery and show/promote their value to the organization and its customers all the time. The bottom line for most executives is about results.
Velocity / Burndown / Burnup Charts - We discussed how to calculate, measure and track Velocity for a team, what is a "trend" (you need at least three data points), and how to use burndown and burnup charts. I've attached a lot of links below for explanation.
Future Topics Backlog and Creating a Community - We also discussed having a future topics backlog and creating a community that meets on a regular basis (starting with Saturday mornings).
What are your thoughts? Please share in the forum. See you next Saturday!
