Hi, this is Leon Sabarsky, Senior Agile Coach, Transformation Experts, with a recap of our last Taste of Agile event:
The topics of our Advanced Agile breakout group centered on emotional intelligence (EQ) - moving from expert mindset to stretch mindset, prioritization - saying no diplomatically and politely, and do we still have office politics remotely?
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) - we discussed different models to adopt, grow and stretch mindsets so that organizations can benefit from higher EQ.
Prioritization - saying no diplomatically and politely - we discussed ideas on how to tackle this issue - one idea was to literally change the word itself from "prioritization" to "sequencing". This seemingly minor wording change sometimes removes the emotional barrier around "your stuff is more important than my stuff and i'm going to fight for my stuff to go first". "Sequencing" factors in dependencies and value and implies that one item is not inherently more important than another in terms of people or departments.
Do we have office politics remotely? - This was an interesting topic to discuss. With everyone working remotely now, we can no longer see people around the office anymore. So, we can't see who is in whose office or who is meeting with each other in their office or for lunch. Most thought that there were still office politics in play (especially by email).
Future Topics Backlog and Creating a Community - We also discussed having a future topics backlog and creating a community that meets on a regular basis (starting with Saturday mornings).
