 Technical Product Owner

Description

A company is looking to hire an experienced Technical Product Owner to help us build critical IT products. In this role you will focus on achieving maximum business value for the commercial portfolio. In addition, the Technical Product Owner will perform hands-on system configuration.

 

Reporting to Head of Information Technology, the Technical Product Owner represents the voice of the customer; providing direction into what and how technology initiatives are envisioned, aligned and integrated. The Technical Product Owner will  work directly with the technical teams and internal commercial teams to develop and deliver value to the organization and benefits to the customer. He/she will own end-user training system configuration and shipping features. Finally, the Technical Product Owner will support the travel agencies develop, integrate and rollout their customer-facing web/mobile apps.

Duties:

  • Work directly with vendors and internal leadership to deliver value via technology

  • Lead the external scrum teams to deliver timely, sophisticated quality products

  • Design frictionless customer centric technology driving customer engagement

  • Configure and test reservation system as necessary to enable and customize its features

  • Extract and retrieve information and data sets to improve upon software

  • Determine, communicate roadmaps for products focusing on business/customer value!

  • Work closely with the scrum team throughout the development process

  • Schedule and lead meetings to identify issues and fixes for projects

  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and clearly communicate to your product’s delivery team members influencing them to deliver a quality product

  • Take accountability for the quality, timely delivery and impact of your products

  • Ensure alignment of strategic objectives to organizational initiatives, resource allocation, and budgets

  • Maintain balance between scope, resources, and timelines by driving prioritization

  • Effectively measure impact of initiatives on strategy execution using clear baseline and target metrics/KPIs

  • Transparent reporting of product’s status, milestones, dependencies, issues/risks, resource allocation, budget, root cause analysis, and executive interventions required

  • Provide objective, fact-based recommendations to executives via reports and meetings

  • Evangelize the value of new and emerging products, technologies, or trends and how they can/will impact our customers, our business or our industry

Skills/Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred; Bachelor’s degree required

  • Two years of experience as a product owner in the travel industry

  • Proven experience in Agile principles and process

  • In-depth understanding of industry market conditions and trends

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Creative and innovative thinker who is looking for growth

  • Eager to go the extra mile and to have empathy for the customer

  • Analytical, structured approach to problem solving

  • Strong writing skills and a desire to diligently document product and processes

  • Ability to work in a very fast paced and dynamic environment, while managing multiple projects/priorities
